The Cost of Free Will

The wonders and marvels of God’s creation is an endless amount of gifts to be thankful for. We have all been given so much, but rarely do we totally understand the significance in what God has bestowed upon us. There is an unseen possession we have, that we tend to take lightly. Until, that is, we do something, that causes us to lose it.

In God’s creation of man, we were given something no other life form was given; A mind to think and make our own decisions with. Our own free will.

Having that free will unleashes ourselves from the bonds of total compliance that all other life forms follow; being born, finding food, finding shelter, reproducing, then dying.

When a person gets old enough, their own personal decision making process begins to kick in, and if it is not controlled or maintained by the laws of God, family or society, disaster may rear its ugly head.

When you know someone who has used their free will to undermine all the good that has been given them, you can be left heartbroken.

As a loving and caring person you want to do anything you can to help someone who has become lost in the mayhem of self destruction. There is a willingness to sacrifice personal freedom in the hopes of saving another one’s life, but there are limits as to what can be done.

A person may be falling into a bottomless pit and you can see them and can reach out to them, but if their hands will not reach back, all your humanly efforts must be released to the grace of God.

This is not to say, that we only put our faith in God’s hands when all else fails. No, we should always have God in front, leading our lives in all that we do. But, there are those times when we have exhausted our own abilities and need to ask for God’s grace.

Pray for those who are lost and cannot see. Pray for all who seek God’s mercy. Pray for those who seek to do God’s will and not their own. Pray for your own strength that it will be just and mighty. Pray to God in thanksgiving for all you have been given and ask for guidance on how best to use these gifts.

ROMANS 9:16 So, then. everything depends, not on what man wants or does, but only on God’s mercy.

The cost of free will is your life and how you use it. May God bless all that you do.

WHAT AN AWESOME GOD

There is a lot going on in our world right now that can really bring you down. Maybe too, in our personal lives, there are areas that we would like to do without, but we cannot always change what has been handed to us. We just need to find a way to let all that’s good be our strength for a better tomorrow. You might want to start by letting a little bit of God’s amazing creation re-enter your world.

Have you ever risen from a deep sleep, in the morning and breathe in the air that felt fresh and new, being welcomed to a day unlike the others. What a great way to start the day.

Driving down a country road in late summer, looking out into the wheat fields as the evening sun cast a golden hue onto the wind blown crops, and a gentle sigh eases out of your lips. Or, sit on a hillside and watch the slow moving billowy white clouds, against a neon blue sky, float by.

When was the last time you sat on the porch or looked through a window and watched as it rained hard on every inch of land? How about listening to the thunderous roar of a spring thunderstorm with bolts of lightening shooting randomly across the sky.
Lay on a blanket underneath the crescent moon and gaze at the starlit night, and hopefully catch a glimpse of a shooting star as it speeds from one end of the horizon to the other.

Did you ever have a sleepless night where you tossed and turned and just wished something would come along to help ease your stressful slumber? Then, as you stare at the wall, an empty branches shadow is cast through your open window, from the moonlit night. As the night time breeze whispers in your ear, your eyes catch sight of the shadow that now looks like a long arm reaching in with its outstretched fingers, and it gently sways back and forth as if it’s a mother’s arm has come to caress your cheek and bring you comfort. You’re at peace now and your eyes close back to a more dreamful state.

It is very easy to see all of these wonderful displays of God’s artwork, but to take each one of them in and consume their total being and savor the smells, sounds and visions, is an experience that can bring a contented smile and warming shivers down your spine.

Our God is an awesome God and his natural wonders are here for us to enjoy and be a part of.

Slow down a little and take it in. Don’t miss it! You wont be disappointed.

What an awesome God!
